Does The A77 Have Thunderbolt?

It’s been pointed out that the leaked German A77 pictures may show that the A77 has a Thunderbolt port. Thunderbolt is a new, fast data interface that has both Intel and Apple behind it – so new that it’s only available on very recent Apple products such as the 11-inch Macbook Air I’m finding surprisingly useable as a photographer’s tool.

If you look at the right hand side of the picture below, on the door labelled ‘Remote’ there is a symbol that looks very much like the logo adopted for Thunderbolt, though I’ve also seen a similar symbol used to mean flash.

What you can see here on top is the very first picture of the Sony A77 EVF! 

You can see the 19 AF points (11 of them are cross type). 

You can also see the 1080p60 logo.

(SR5) A77 has a Mysterious “electronic first shutter curtain”!

 

 

 

According to bullet proof sources the A77 will have a very short release time lag thanks to a sort of “electronic first shutter curtain“. Michael Covington’s website explains what it is. The electornic first shutter curtain begins the exposure electronically with zero vibration: “In fact, as I understand it, the “electronic first shutter curtain” is a virtual moving edge just like the real shutter curtain, so you can use it even with short exposures. Columns of the sensor are turned on one by one just as if the real curtain were exposing them. Because a CMOS sensor can’t turn off as quickly as it turns on, the real shutter curtain is used to end the exposure.”

As the camera is not yet announced, what the price will be is speculation, but Ylovephoto reckons to have worked out the prices of the forthcoming Sony A77 and A65 from a magazine’s list of competition prizes:

• Sony Alpha 77 + 16-50mm f/2.8 SAM = 1800€
• Sony Alpha 77 body only = 1050€

 The A77 and the A65 will be available in Europe and US around the 17th-20th of October. 

O preço deverá rondar os 1050 euros e a sua chegada ao Japão deverá ser em 17 de Setembro de 2011 e um mês depois no resto do mundo.

A A77 deverá ter um "silent mode" de modo a que o "barulho" (noise) e a vibração deverão ficar substancialmente reduzidos. 

A A77 terá o mais desenvolvido GPS integrado em câmaras fotográficas (ver aqui)

Small update about the upcoming new Sony products:
The vertical battery grip VG-C77AM will cost $299.99 US . And the A77 will use the same battery as A700/A850/A900:  The NP-FM500H.

The unreleased Sony A77 just has been nominated for the Design Award (Source: g-mark.org UPDATE: Now removed!). The website confirmed the rumors you saw first here on SAR. The A77 has indeed the new 24 megapixel Exmor CMOS sensor,  the “world’s fastest” burst rate of 12 frames per second,  60p and 24p video recording and “world’s first” XGA OLED electronic viewfinder (UPDATE: Source confirms the A77 can do 30p too!)

As you can see the Good Design Expo will start on Friday 26. This also confirms the release date is on August 24!

(SR5) Some good news rumors

1) Some of them saw that you were concerned about the 500 shot autonomy of the A77. 

You are limited with 500 shots only when shooting in LCD mode! If you use the built-in viewfinder you will be able to take many more pictures!

2) On the A65 and A77 you can enable or disable the automatic lens correction (Vignetting, Chromatic Aberration and more).

3) It has AF fine tuning! Over 30 lenses can be “stored”.

4) With multiframe you can go up to 25.600 ISO
